44. Kids today

Yesterday, I asked my officemate’s 14 year old brother, studying in LaSalle Bacolod, how they report or present in front of the class. Actually, I was giving him tips on how to semi-rape his female classmates. Their innocence are an advantage to those early bloomers and for the record. I am a late bloomer so I didn’t know this stuff while I was growing. I promise.

 

Like the wise ass I am, I asked if they still use Manila paper during presenting and that they have to force a female classmate to write on the Manila paper by telling her that her handwriting is beautiful and all that shit. I also told him that it’s the perfect opportunity to peak through his classmate’s blouses when they lean over to write something on the Manila paper. 

 

 The kid answered, “What’s a manila paper?”

“It’s a large piece of paper you tape on the black board and you use pentel pen to write on it.” I said.

“We use our friend’s laptop to present” I was shocked, 2nd year students bring laptops to school now a days?

 

So I asked, “Oh, so you guys as young as you are use MS Power Point already? That is what we use in the office.”

 

He replied. “No, we use movie maker” for our presentations.

 

I froze. I don’t think I have used movie maker ever.

 

So I smiled and stood up and went outside for a stick of cigarette.  I can’t believe my 2nd year high school was so long ago.  They’re using laptops and projectors? We only used Manila paper back then. When I was in College we used the overhead projectors and we had to acetate our reports for the presentation. I don’t even think these kids know what acetate is anymore.

Later on I asked about their computer subject was and I found out as early as 2nd year they are already studying MS Access. Give these younglings a couple of years more and I know they will out tech me for certain. 

 

Sigh. I am really getting old.

I’m all for technology dude. No problem with that. Actually I am ecstatic that kids are awesome nowadays. I just can’t believe boys right now are missing out on our age old semi rape tactics I know you are familiar with right? I guess they’re making their own style and shit.
