Dearest Long Hair,

When I was a kid, I remember the time when I wanted a long flowing shiny black hair. You see, I am a rocker by heart. Although my dream to have a long hair wasn’t really possible because number one, my parents won’t allow me and number two because I went to a prude unimaginative catholic school where the last remnants of Nazi like teachers and administrators worked.

College came and my devotion to the ROTC also hindered our chances to be together. As a member of the Model Platoon, I was required to wear a 3X4 white side wall hair cut or in other words, crew cut.

After college though, I was still hesitant to have you because of my work. You see I deal with marketing and sales and one requirement we have is to look properly for we represent the company.

After six long years, I’ve realized that my hairline is getting higher and higher and remembering that both my grandpas are bald. I decided it’s time for a long hair rocker look. I decided to have you.

I have to be honest with you; our partnership was a bit demanding on my part. Considering it started even before came. I endured you through the sweltering heat of the wind and the sun. Remember I even had measles that time? But I, letting you go, never even crossed my mind.

You were a bit of an attention grabber, If I didn’t comb you or wash you, you always make your presence felt by being oily and smelly. So I took care of you like my own, because really, you were my own.

Although there were high points in our relationship, you made look like Prince Caspian. Really I applaud you for that, also the rocker image you gave me. I remember one of the bosses in our office. Every time he sees me, he shouts in the hallways, Yo! Rocker dude! Rock on!! See? You made me stand out of the crowd.

I’ve only had you for a couple of months and I’ve grown attached to you so much that my decision today is one of the hardest I have ever done. Although it breaks my heart, I have to let you go.

But don’t you ever think I didn’t love you. I did, more than you’ll ever know. It’s just that we had our chance; yeah we had a good run. But as I grow older, I just have to move on from this stage of my life. Don’t worry though. I will always cherish the times we’ve had, both the good times and the bad.

So I will know go to the butcher and he will separate us. Be happy, smile for me. Who knows right? Some day, some how, we’ll see each other again and until that time comes. You will always have a place in my heart.
