82. Unforgettable
October 18, 2008
At first I was doubtful when they said that Bacolod, the city of smiles, is the number one most livable place in the Philippines. Well, staying here for most of the week was really an eye opener. I love this place. The people, the culture, the places and most certainly the food!!

Along with stresses from work and my family’s crisis and more stresses from work, it has been an emotion filled week. It’s like taking the emotional bus to the emotional center where you’ll ride the emotional rollercoaster. Everything was unbelievable and this is something I will not soon forget.

The maskara festival was a total blast. Sure traffic grinded to a halt and people had to walk a lot to get anywhere but the parade of the masks and they unlimited street parties in every corner block also the second annual electric parade where they simply paraded with an illuminated masks and head gears. All of it was totally awesome. Someday, I would like to bring the wife here for a real vacation.

Also, I have to say I didn’t eat anything here that I didn’t love. From the Napoleones, to the half moon cake, the imported cake from Calea, the sate babe from bobs, the inasal chicken from chicken house and even the snapper fillet covered with peanut crust, everything was perfect and delightful to eat.

To napaka sakit kuya Eddie my van driver, to Ate Elena my coordinator, to my counterparts and office mates I hung out with, practically everyone who made my stay in Bacolod the best provincial assignment I have ever had, (and yes dad, you included.) Thank you! Hope to see you all next year. I hope I could attend the maskara festivities every year. Yes! Definitely, until we meet again!
